There’s been a lot of discussion in the skincare world about detoxes and if they are necessary for keeping your skin looking good. But what exactly is a skin detox and how would you perform one if you’re new to the process? Below is a simple breakdown of what you need to know about taking care of your skin from both the inside and the outside. 

What is a skin detox?


Your skin is the largest organ in your body, so it makes sense that you would want to care for it as much as possible. It plays an important role in a variety of functions, from regulating body temperature to keeping moisture in and blocking out any harmful toxins from entering your system. So, when experts talk about a skin detox what they tend to focus on is what you can do externally to reduce damage and protect your skin on outside.

A few common factors that affect the health and well-being of your skin are:

  • Poor diet and lifestyle habits
  • Environmental toxins
  • Regular use of makeup causing congestion in the pores
Everyone’s skin reacts differently to different factors, so it’s important to understand what could be affecting yours and working to improve it with that specific issue in mind. 

How to Detox Your Skin:
